Mod 1 Self-Assessment

Important

I have already put this template in your Notion. I am also putting it on the class website so you can review the questions and expectations.

This self-assessment is your chance to pause and think about how you have done so far in the course. Please go beyond one-word answers: use full sentences with detail and examples. The more reflective and descriptive you are, the more I can understand your learning process, the effort you have put in, and the growth you have made. Your detail helps me give you more accurate and fair feedback when marking.

Use specific evidence from your:

  • cardboard planning, construction, testing, and revision;
  • keychain and Tinkercad Choice Sprint;
  • Landmark Project and three-part Landmark Notion entry;
  • screenshots, measurements, files, feedback, and reflections;
  • safe use of tools, materials, equipment, and class time.

Honest, detailed analysis is more useful than claiming that everything went perfectly.

Uses class time efficiently and knows the next step
Independent Work————————————————————————————
Works at a steady and appropriate pace
Remains focused without distracting others
Uses plans, criteria, references, and checklists before asking what to do next
Attempts reasonable troubleshooting and asks focused questions when needed
Collaboration————————————————————————————
Shares tools and workspace safely and respectfully
Gives feedback that is kind, specific, and useful
Listens to and values the ideas of others
Uses peer feedback thoughtfully rather than ignoring or copying it
Initiative————————————————————————————
Explores unfamiliar tools and techniques with a positive attitude
Takes appropriate creative or technical risks
Seeks feedback, tests ideas, and improves work without waiting to be told
Advocates appropriately for personal learning needs
Self-Regulation————————————————————————————
Sets realistic goals and identifies the next useful action
Recognizes when work, evidence, or files are incomplete
Persists and adjusts when a build or digital model becomes difficult
Asks for help early enough to use it effectively

Learning Skills Evidence

Choose one learning skill that is currently a strength and one that needs improvement. Use a specific example from Mod 1 to explain each choice.

🔍 Mod 1 Self-Reflection

This module asked you to move from a physical cardboard build into digital 3D design. You planned, measured, made, tested, revised, documented your process, learned Tinkercad, considered printability, responded to feedback, and completed a Landmark Project.

Be honest, specific, and use clear evidence from your projects, Notion entries, screenshots, submitted files, feedback, and work habits.

📋 Project Overview (Required)

Summarize the major work you completed during Mod 1.

⏱️ Time Use and Accountability

You had nine classes in this module.

Did you make effective use of the class time available? Use evidence from your project progress, Notion entries, planning, and completed work.

Answer

Where did you lose time, rush, become distracted, or need more structure? What would you do differently in the next module?

Answer

🦺 Safety, Responsibility, and Care

How consistently did you use the ChompSaw, hot glue, cardboard, computers, and shared workspace safely and responsibly? Give at least one specific example.

Answer

How well did you care for shared equipment, clean your workspace, manage your digital files, and keep backups? What habit should continue or improve?

Answer

🧠 THINKING — Planning and Decision-Making

How did your sketches, measurements, cut lists, references, shape decomposition, criteria, or planned dimensions guide your work? Compare one strong planning decision with one decision you would improve.

Answer

Describe one important problem from either the cardboard build or a Tinkercad project. What evidence did you use, what options did you consider, and why did you choose your solution?

Answer

For the Landmark Project, how did you decide which defining features to preserve, simplify, or exaggerate while keeping the structure recognizable and printable?

Answer

🔧 KNOWLEDGE — Tools, Software, and Technical Understanding

How strong is your understanding of the tools and concepts used in this module? Discuss both physical construction and Tinkercad.

Consider:

  • measuring, marking, cutting, joining, testing, and safe tool use;
  • solids, holes, grouping, alignment, duplication, workplanes, and dimensions;
  • scale, proportion, orientation, overhangs, thickness, connections, and printability;
  • STL files, screenshots, fly-throughs, and file organization.
Answer

Identify up to five tools, techniques, or concepts you learned or improved. Explain where each appears in your work.

🛠️ APPLICATION — Making, Testing, and Refining

How effectively did you turn plans into finished physical and digital work? Discuss craftsmanship, technical control, completeness, and whether the results met their intended purpose.

Answer

Describe one evidence-based revision you made. What did the before version show, what changed, and how did the revision improve the result?

Answer

How well did your final Landmark model address recognizability, scale, proportion, orientation, connections, thickness, overhangs, and realistic printability? What would you refine with more time?

Answer

💬 COMMUNICATION — Documenting and Explaining Your Work

How clearly does your Notion portfolio communicate your process from planning to final submission? Refer to recaps, reflections, screenshots, measurements, questions, files, and the fly-through.

Answer

How consistent and detailed were your Notion updates? Could someone who did not watch you work understand your decisions, challenges, feedback, and revisions? Explain.

Answer

🤝 Feedback and Collaboration

What was the most useful feedback you received during Mod 1? Who gave it, and did you accept, adapt, or reject it? Explain how evidence supported your response.

Answer

Give one example of useful feedback you provided to someone else. What made it specific and helpful?

Answer

🎨 Creative and Technical Risk-Taking

What creative or technical risk did you take? This might involve your cardboard structure, Tinkercad tools, landmark choice, construction method, simplification, or project scope.

Answer

How did that risk affect your learning or final result? Would you make the same choice again?

Answer

🌱 Growth and Next Steps

What is one professional habit you strengthened during Mod 1?

Examples include planning, time management, safe work, file organization, persistence, feedback use, documentation, independence, or follow-through.

Answer

What is one habit or skill you need to improve for Mod 2? State one specific action you will take.

Answer

📊 Self-Evaluation Grade

If you had to give yourself a grade for Mod 1, what would it be and why?

Your explanation must refer to specific evidence and address:

  • Knowledge — your understanding of tools, terminology, measurement, Tinkercad, and 3D-printing concepts;
  • Thinking — your research, planning, decision-making, problem-solving, and use of evidence;
  • Communication — the clarity and completeness of your Notion documentation, explanations, feedback, and submitted evidence;
  • Application — how effectively and safely you created, tested, refined, and submitted your work;
  • Responsibility — how consistently you used time, handled equipment, met expectations, and followed through.
Proposed grade and detailed justification

Final Check

  • I completed the Learning Skills table.
  • I used full sentences and specific examples.
  • I referred to evidence from more than one Mod 1 activity.
  • I addressed Knowledge, Thinking, Communication, and Application.
  • I identified a strength, an area for growth, and a specific next step.
  • I checked that my Landmark Project files and all three parts of its Notion entry are complete.
